  1. Job Summary

The Indiana Wildlife Federation (IWF) is seeking a passionate and motivated Field Coordinator to lead its efforts in engaging agricultural communities and key rural areas on the importance of clean water conservation. This role will focus on agricultural lands and associated communities, but all vital stakeholders will be engaged. You will play a critical role in expanding IWF’s membership base, building partnerships, and advocating for strong water quality protections in Indiana. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with landowners, farmers, policymakers, and conservation organizations to secure a healthy future for Indiana’s water resources.

III. Essential Functions

  • Membership and Engagement:
    • Develop and implement strategies to engage new or inactive IWF members and identify local champions within agricultural communities and rural areas.
    • Organize events, workshops, and conferences focused on conservation agriculture, bringing together farmers, policymakers, and IWF members.
    • Establish and maintain regular communication channels with farmers and IWF members through newsletters, social media, and other outreach methods.
    • Partner with agricultural associations, businesses, and corporations to raise awareness about water issues in Indiana.
  • Advocacy and Coalition Building:
    • Build coalitions with other conservation organizations to advocate for policies that protect water quality in Indiana.

 

 

    • Develop and deliver compelling messaging that counters misinformation about the impact of policies like “Sackett v. EPA” on wetlands and water resources.
    • Engage with policymakers and government officials to promote IWF’s clean water conservation priorities.
  • Data and Reporting:
    • Track and report on progress towards campaign goals, including quantitative data on membership growth and qualitative information on program activities, challenges, and successes.
    • Prepare regular progress reports and a final report summarizing the effectiveness of the campaign and recommendations for future activities.

 

  1. Additional Duties
  • Provide content (written and visual) for social media, press releases and grant reporting purposes.

 

  • Assist with database management and website maintenance.

 

  • Assist with IWF project days (trail building, invasive plant removal, native plantings).

 

Qualifications:

  • Background in environmental science, agriculture, public policy, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural organizations, conservation groups, and policymakers.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agricultural practices and water resource issues in Indiana.
  • Passion for conservation and a commitment to protecting Indiana’s natural resources.
