As part of our shared mission with the National Wildlife Federation, our work includes inspiring the next generation of conservationists and mobilizing a diverse conservation army to broaden the stewardship ethic, conservation action, public and private investments, and support for policy changes necessary to save thousands of at-risk species in our time. We are proud to offer two scholarship opportunities for students interested in conservation or environmental education.

The Holt Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship awarded to a student who is majoring or minoring in a field related to resource conservation or environmental education.

The Holt BIPOC Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship awarded to a student who is majoring or minoring in a field related to resource conservation or environmental education and identifies as Black, Indigenous, and/or a person of color.

    What are the application requirements?

    Applicants must be Indiana residents accepted for study or already enrolled for the current semester as a full-time student at the undergraduate level as a sophomore or above in an accredited college or university.

    Applicants must be taking coursework to major or minor in a field related to resource conservation or environmental education.

    In addition, the selected applicant will be asked to submit a brief update of his/her activities at the end of the year, which will be presented at the next year’s annual business meeting.

    The recipient will receive priority consideration for a semester or summer-long internship.

    When will award recipients be notified?

     The award recipient will be notified by November of the application year. The recipient is invited to attend the Annual Indiana Wildlife Conference to be recognized as the scholarship recipient.

    How is the scholarship distributed?

    Scholarship money will be forwarded to the college or university and must be used during the current academic year. 

    What does the scholarship cover?

    The money can be used to help pay tuition, room and board, books or academic fees that are payable to the college or university. The funds may not be used to pay late charges or fines.
