Indiana University – Kokomo
Indiana University Kokomo has made significant strides in sustainability, earning certification as a Sustainable Campus in 2024. As part of their Green Horizons Initiative, IU Kokomo is actively working to restore its natural landscapes, focusing on removing invasive species and planting a wide variety of native flora. These efforts are transforming several areas of campus into rich habitats that support local pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. Students and faculty use these restored areas as living laboratories for conducting research. IU Kokomo has integrated its sustainability goals into campus events and ongoing partnerships with local organizations. The campus has also added smart bird feeders, honeybees, and has made a push for improved environmental literacy among students and the surrounding community. By engaging students in hands-on learning opportunities and inviting collaboration, IU Kokomo is committed to enhancing biodiversity, promoting environmental education, and fostering a campus culture of sustainability.
