Hoosier Habitats Challenge

In March of 2026 at our Annual Conference – Garden to Grasslands, we announced along with Earth Charter IN and National Wildlife Federation an effort to certify every region of Indiana through NWF’s Certified Community Habitats® Program! Indiana is home to the second Certified Community ever; Zionsville. It only seems natural to keep leading the way in showing our commitment to conservation and achieve the first ever whole-state certification.

In order to do this, every region of Indiana (8 in total) needs to score points through activities like

• Certifying a habitat
• Hosting an activity like a trash cleanup or invasive removal
• Presenting educational workshops

and many more! You can learn more by viewing the National Wildlife Federation’s rubric.

If you have any questions about this project or want to know how you can get involved, check out one of our Open House videos or send us an email at info@indianawildlife.org.
