Scott Starling Nature Sanctuary

Northwest side of Eagle Creek Reservoir in Eagle Creek Park, off Wilson Road

The Scott Starling Nature Sanctuary is a lightly trafficked ADA accessible loop trail near a lake. This trail features 2 boardwalks overlooking of the muddy oxbow of Fishback Creek that feeds into the Eagle Creek reservoir. This site is ideal for birdwatching, especially for anyone interested in raptors and waterfowl. Thanks to the support of Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), IWF and REI volunteers were able to join with Eagle Creek Park staff to improve the trail system. The trail project was supported by the Duke Energy Foundation, REI, and the Friends of Eagle Creek Park.

The sustainable trail is a small section that connects to a larger trail loop totaling 2.4 miles.
